Pea Power!
A Parable of Scale and Vision It was truly a life changing experience! I was stunned. I wandered around in a thick grey daze for weeks. Then, I stumbled into an oriental restaurant, and quite by chance, I ordered up a big plate of noodles. . . I slurped those noodles, until I was satisfied. Yes I did. Then, when I was almost done, by divine providence, they brought to me a special hollow and bent rice cookie. Inside it, secretly folded into the heart of the oddly bent cookie, there was a special message, cleverly printed on a scrap of white paper. . . OMG! That freaked me out. I unfolded that message, with quivering hands because I was shaking in awe, and I tried to read it. Yes I did. As best I could tell, the paper read: ‘God can be found in a can of peas.’ It was so simple! . . .It was marvelous really. It was an eye-opener for me. . . Enlightenment. No doubt about it, this was a game-changer. Woohoo! I was back in the game, and right on target. I once again had focus, and now I was feeling the support I needed too. Huzzah! Thus, I began my pea odyssey. When I got home, I searched my kitchen for every can of peas I could find, and I opened every one of them, looking for God, but I found nothing, only a big huge green pyramid of little round wet green peas all piled in my living room, and soaking a big slimy wet spot into my carpet. Those tiny little green vegetable orbs, - soon filled my entire life. I made a pilgrimage, to the grocery store, where I bought more. I opened every can. I shook them. I stirred them. I sorted them. I examined them every way I could think of. I opened over four hundred cans of peas, but I still did not find God in any of them.! I pondered what it could mean. I got that special mystical message of enlightenment sent to me in that rice cookie, you know, so WHY is God hiding from me like this? I tried to think; if I were God, which can of peas would I be in? Then it hit me, maybe it made a difference how I opened the cans! So I tried every different way to open a can that I could think of.
I was frustrated, and distraught. Finally, I lifted my wet dripping metal can opener, slowly over my head, and I cried out in a loud slow painful voice: “I don’t want anymore peas!” And I repeated it, slowly emphasizing every word, to make sure I was very clear. When right then - it hit me, and suddenly I knew, that all of this must be some part of an ascension process. I realized that this was another sign. All of my training was helping me find the clues. I must eat the giant mystical wet green pyramid of peas! Yes, because, then, I would actually become the God I was seeking! It was so simple. I don’t know why I didn’t see it earlier. So I ate peas, and more peas, so many peas. . . I ate peas, and then I ate them again. Yes I did. It was a painful struggle, but I soon felt myself brimming with vital new pea power, so I felt it was probably worth it. It was an awesome metamorphosis. I left my old pea-soaked living room, and I went out into the world, emerging like a new and genuine pea-stained-but-pea-empowered demigod, exhorting people to CHANGE their miserable lives! Only, it didn’t work. People said mean and hurtful things to me. They had no respect for my new pea power. Ascension is HARD. Somehow I messed it up. So I grimaced, and I burped. I sat down on a rock, and I chewed on a strand of straw. I pondered if maybe, somehow, I was going about things all wrong.
