The Parable of the Seeker

The Parable of the Seeker

One of the great sayings in Mysticism, is that when a student is ready, a teacher will be sent.

I always got a big rush from that. But, maybe it just felt good to consider my being all special like that. I dunno. I think it’s maybe some sort of a vibrational thing - where when you read it, it just resonates with you, and then you get goose bumps and you sort of fade in and out of temporal existence, briefly, like some weird spiritual quasar in a big 3D physical world. You know?

Yeah. Like that.

Anyway, so I went down to the lake, because large stagnant bodies of water have always been very special spiritual places for me. You know? Yeah, like that. So I stood there, on the bank, and I started yelling: “Here I am! I am ready!”

Nothing happened, except that my throat started getting sore, so I yelled louder. Yes I did. But I got a response this time. Some lady came out of the back of one of those shore houses, up on the hill, wearing the most hideous frumpy orange sweatshirt, and called me a ‘@#&ing jerk!’ and told me that if I didn’t shut up, she was going to call the police.

Well, naturally, this being my special spiritual place and all, I figured this was just some test of my sincerity and determination, to see if I was really ready and worthy, and I was, so I yelled louder. Yes I did.

She wasn’t lying. She called the police on me. While I was sitting in jail for about 8 hours, I figured out that maybe that ugly lady who yelled down all fiercely at me, was actually my teacher, and I that I sort of missed that, all because I was expecting something totally different!
