The Frustration of Spiritual Nagivation

The Frustration of Spiritual Navigation

Alas, there are lies,

and layers of lies.

They are like the trees of a forest.

Together they form a dark canopy.

People think they are ascending

When they leave the darkness of one tree

For the darkness of another tree. . .

Gleefully they exchange one set of lies

For another new set of lies. . .

Navigating the forest is improbable.

A man can read 300 books

And try to sort out the trees

And still be full of nonsense.

Arrogance sets in

When you clear the first few rows

Of trees

And you think you know something

When really

You do, but you don’t.

Men love to live under the complicated trees,

and play with fig leaves.
